HTMA Mineral & Nutritional Balancing
Nourishing the Deep Body
Mineral balancing is like molasses-
slow & nutritive

It works on deep layers in the body to help restore energy at a cellular level. When cellular energy is restored, the body naturally initiates healing & returns a sense of being wholly alive.

What is an HTMA?
HTMA or hair & tissue mineral analysis, is a screening test that examines the composition of minerals and metals being excreted in the hair. Hair is composed of many dead cells and cells are where lots of metabolic activity happens in the body. By reading the mineral and metals present in the hair, we gain insight into other tissues in the body.

Minerals in the Modern World:
why are so many people mineral deficient?

There was a time when our soil was nutrient and mineral rich. We didn't need to balance our minerals as much because we drank alive, mineral rich water and ate food that was diverse, heirloom, organic, wild, and full of nutrients. Seeds were passed down from generations, not hybridized, and contained worlds of story & life within them. The rise of modern agriculture and monocropping along with other soil depletive practices and busy lifestyles has changed the landscape of nourishment that we live in now.
We are not living on the same earth that our ancestors did.

And it shows up in our bodies.
Just how rare earth minerals are mined to power our phones and computers, so too are minerals required to power the most foundational systems of the human body. Minerals are the most basic building blocks that *every single biological system and process requires to function optimally* - from the thyroid to the nervous system and digestive system. After generations of living in the modern busy world with fewer and fewer varieties of foods + decreasing soil health,

most people have insufficient mineral stores in their tissues.

The good news? It's possible to replenish the body. I've experienced it first hand and that's what inspired me to pursue offering it to others. Instead of constantly repairing my hormones, digestion, or immune issues, I sought out a root cause approach. Mineral work rippled out to impact every other wellness protocol, lessening the burden of healing & freeing up energy for the life I wanted.

When we give the body what it needs on the most foundational level, every layer of the body is affected. The needle moves, and big changes begin to happen . It is not just about supplementing more magnesium- the evidence based approach looks at the whole composition of minerals and designs a bio-individual protocol that changes as the person does.

Mineral rebalancing is a low and slow method. It is designed to move with the pace of your body, building and replenishing each layer at a time. One of the amazing side effects of mineral rebalancing is that it naturally helps release heavy metals.

When the body has insufficient mineral stores, it may hold on to heavy metals to use instead.

The body is brilliant! It knows how to pivot to stay alive and sometimes that means using less preferable minerals like metals to do the job. For example, if the body doesn't have sufficient calcium stores, it is more likely to hold onto lead. Although there is well documented evidence that heavy metals are linked to a host of health issues, one of the lesser known facts is that these heavy metals may be performing an important function. This is why I don't recommend intense chelation therapy to remove heavy metals without replacing minerals first. It's like removing the scaffolding inside your body without new support... and can lead to the body caving in on itself.

Mineral balancing seeks to replace the preferred minerals & naturally the body will let go of metals when it is ready.
Although there used to be an abundance of minerals in our food, we have to face that a beet isn't the same beet our great grandmothers ate. I am a chef and food passionate woman who knows that food is medicine AND given the landscape we are in, many people are still living with insufficient mineral stores.

I've spent years learning the art of mineral balancing to help people replenish their body at the cellular level. As a well-trained, compassionate, & present practitioner, I am here to listen to your experience & be the support you deserve.

A few ways that minerals Impact the body

energy
Minerals influence countless enzymatic reactions and are the foundation for energized mitochondria and ATP production, which is how you produce energy on a cellular level. Minerals are also required for optimal thyroid + adrenal function. HTMA tests can see where your mineral patterns are out of balance & help understand the root cause of fatigue, feeling cloudy, tired, or chronically low capacity- they are particularly helpful at helping see when the thyroid is stressed, often way before this shows up on a blood serum panel.
The digestive system relies on enzymatic functions that are powered by minerals to produce bile, breakdown food, & transport nutrients throughout the body. Minerals also form the cells and eventually tissues of the digestive system, affecting the permeability of the intestinal lining. An HTMA can also help understand how your body is digesting macro-nutrients like protein, fat, and carbohydrates. HTMA gives a custom look into how YOUR body is metabolizing.
DIGESTION
HORMONES
The hormonal dance is orchestrated by deep layers within the body- starting at the cells. Every hormone requires specific minerals for production, activation, & regulation- from sex hormones to stress hormones. Minerals also help support the natural detoxification pathways that keep our hormones like estrogen from over-accumulating. Mineral rebalancing is one of the greatest protocols for fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, & general vitality.

Minerals impact nerve function in the body and have a large affect on the way we hold stress, impact the glandular system, especially the adrenals and thyroid, and how much access we have to self-regulate.. An HTMA can assess ratios and minerals like potassium for example that gives us clues into which branch of the central nervous system the body is often in. These tests can also screen for imbalances in the calming minerals, like calcium and magnesium, that would help provide easier sleep, rest, & access to calming the body.

System
Capacity
for change
A under resourced body can often times posture in a holding pattern. Although this is a temporary strategy to reserve our energy at the cellular level, this often times leads to long term dysfunction. HTMA tests can help see patterns of stored trauma, both physically and emotionally, helping shed light on areas of extra care and providing proven pathways to directly nourish what can help those holding patterns soften. Mineral work is both physical and emotional, working on the pyscho-somatic terrain to provide deep healing and nourishment to the whole person.
By affecting every other bodily organ and system, minerals have one of the most foundational affects on our overall vitality. There are certain ratios that correlate more directly to vitality, but the entire chart is a map for where the body may be more vulnerable and then gives precise mineral ratios specific to each person to help. When we restore optimal cellular function, the body naturally initiates healing responses in service to life.

About
The heart of my work began over a decade ago when health flare ups brought me down a shape-shifting path of learning how to radically care for myself. I struggled with my hormones, thyroid, gut, lymph, and I chronically felt like I didn't have the energy to be myself. I could barely go to work (let alone start a business) & see a few friends before feeling exhausted. Every little thing felt like a setback, & I was trying herbs, gut healing protocols, & eventually thyroid medication. I knew something was wrong, but I didn't know what.
I remember coming home from my Ayurveda training program in India (after being vegetarian for months) and struggling to get out of bed. While that eventually got better, I would have chronic flare ups for years after that drained the spark from me. My body was depleted, but I confused it for being introverted or slower by nature.
I've known what deep exhaustion feels like and I also saw a massive shift in my character, energy, and health when I started working with mineral repair. I felt alive in a way that someone feels the first time they drink good coffee- but I felt this way just by waking up. I let go of a lot of dogma (because certain nourishing foods and herbs were actually making it worse!) and began slowly replenishing.

I've been fortunate to travel the world studying the culinary arts & integrative medicine, recognizing them as inextricably intertwined. I have extensive training in womens medicine, Ayurveda, herbalism, & cooking. The "art of nourishment" as I call it has been my focus since opening Kearsley's Kitchen back in 2020- A mixture of integrative medicine, the culinary arts, & the poetic rhythm of a slow, hand-made life.

I have since spent years pursuing certification as an HTMA Practitioner & am certified as a MNBP by Susan Cachay.
