Herbal Remedies for the Postpartum Period with Kearsley Schweller & Evan Cohen

Join Herbalists & Birth Workers Kearsley Schweller & Evan Cohen for an in depth look at supporting the postpartum period with herbal medicines. Since time immemorial we have called upon plants to aid in the postpartum recovery process. We’ll share the flowering buds of our personal and professional use of herbal medicines & offer powerful tools to fortify your caregiving.

Well explore a spectrum of ways that plants support the postpartum period, some of which include:

  • Understanding Herb Safety
  • The Best Medicine is the One You Take: Healing Syrups, Honeys, & Teas
  • Herbs for sitz baths & sprays
  • Lactation Teas
  • The Nervous System as the Backbone of Care
  • Tending the Central Fire // Digestive Herbs
  • Flower Essences
  • Wound healers: when to choose what
  • Minerals as Healers / Nutritive Herbs
  • Sourcing, Blending, & More

This class is offered on a sliding scale price from $45-75. We trust you to select the price point that reflects what you can pay for this class based on your resources & appreciate you valuing our work. We warmly welcome all people to this class & particularly recognize the systemic inequity affecting people of color which is why we’ve decided to offer a few tickets at zero cost to BIPOC members of our community. :::Kearsley Tate Schweller:::

Kearsleys Kitchen

Kearsley is a private and postpartum chef who serves the greater Asheville community with delicious meals and herbal medicines. Her foundational work studying womens herbalism, physiology, wildcrafting, hormonal health, & traditional diets has rounded out her caregiving in ways that are deliciously nourishing. At the heart of her work is a value for small scale sourcing, bioregional relationships, and the belief that the postpartum period lays the foundation of wellbeing for the rest of life.

:::Evan Ilana Cohen:::

Big Cat Birth & Botanicals

Evan is a full-spectrum doula and herbalist, and comes to this work with deep integrity. Living in the mountains of Western North Carolina since 2008, Evan has a strong connection with the abundance of herbal medicine that this land has to offer, as well as the community at large. As an activist, Evan strongly believes that everything and everyone is connected, and all of our actions impact one another and the earth. With the values of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, gender inclusivity, and a dedication to anti-racism work, Evan aims to create a nourishing container for anyone who enters.
